Norwalk Man Charged In Main Avenue Stabbing

NORWALK, Conn. -- A 20-year-old Norwalk man was charged Wednesday following a stabbing that sent one person to the hospital, according to police.

Plinio Chavez of 356 Main Ave. was charged with first-degree assault and carrying a dangerous weapon. He was issued a $20,000 bond and will appear in court on June 17.

Police were called to 356 Main Ave. at around 10:10 a.m. Wednesday on a report of a disturbance. Officers arrived to find a male victim suffering from a stab wound, police said. The suspect, later identified as Chavez, had fled the scene on foot, according to police.

The victim was taken to Norwalk Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A short time later police were able to locate Chavez in a wooded area on Linden Terrace and take him into custody, according to police.

The Crime Scene Unit responded and processed the crime scene. Norwalk Detectives assumed the investigation, which revealed that the incident may have escalated due to prior issues between both men, according to police.
