Hector Diaz, 19, was charged with first-degree robbery, fifth-degree larceny, criminal use of a firearm and carrying a gun without a permit. He was arrested while appearing in court to face charges stemming from a December incident, where police said he broke into the South Norwalk Post Office. His bond was set at $500,000.

The robbery occurred on Nov. 25, when police said a man entered the In & Out Variety Store on Main Street at around 9:45 p.m. He robbed the store armed with a silver revolver, wearing a ski mask and a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, according to police reports. He then fled the store. Nobody was injured in the incident and no shots were fired.

On Dec. 28, Diaz was arrested after police responded to the South Norwalk Post Office on a report of burglar alarms going off. When they arrived they found Diaz, who fled the scene but was quickly caught. He was charged with third-degree burglary and interfering with an officer. He was recognized as a suspect in the store robbery, according to police reports, and later confessed.
