The first incident was reported at Sail American Grill in Rowayton on Saturday evening. Kyle Armstrong, 30, of Richards Avenue, a cook at the restaurant, became angry when his roommate, who is the restaurant’s owner, came into the business and asked for “VIP treatment,” police said. The two went outside the restaurant, where the fight became physical, according to police reports.

Marco Coelho, 42, of the same address told police that Armstrong pushed, choked and punched him outside the restaurant. Armstrong denied choking him, and told officers that Coelho grabbed him and tore his shirt, according to the police report.

Officers at the scene did not see visible marks on Coelho, police said. Other employees reported seeing the two argue verbally in the restaurant but did not see the altercation outside.

Armstrong was charged with breach of the peace and third-degree assault. Coelho was charged with breach of the peace. Both were released and ordered to stay away from each other until their court date Monday.

Early Sunday morning police received another call from Coelho, claiming that Armstrong had returned to their apartment. While there he damaged a door lock as he entered the apartment, and threatened to kill Coelho, according to the police report.

Police later found Armstrong on Martin Luther King Drive and arrested him a second time. He was charged with threatening, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and violating conditions of release. He was held on a $20,000 bond, and was arraigned in court on Monday.
