NORWALK, Conn. – A 46-year-old Norwalk man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a domestic incident on Grayrock Road where police said he allegedly choked and threw his 40-year-old ex-girlfriend to the ground.
Evon Yarrell, of Elm Street, was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, third-degree strangulation and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors, in connection with the 10:30 p.m. incident.
Both he and his ex-girlfriend suffered minor injuries from the fight, but neither required treatment at Norwalk Hospital, police said.
The two gave different accounts of what led to the alleged assault, according to Sgt. Lisa Cotto. Yarrell told police the pair argued over his repairing a car, and the woman stated that they argued over tax returns and money, Cotto said.
During the argument, Yarrell alleged grabbed the victim first by the arm and then by the throat, choked her and threw her to the ground, police said. Yarrell claimed the victim shoved him and punched him.
He was held in lieu of a $10,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court Wednesday.
