NORWALK, Conn. – A Norwalk man was arrested and charged with strangling his girlfriend during an argument Sunday night, according to police reports.
Police were called to a High Street residence at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday after neighbors reported hearing an argument in one of the house’s apartments. A 31-year-old woman there told police that she had had a fight with Evol Dessances, 48, of that address, police said.
The victim told officers that Dessances had choked her and pinned her against a wall during the argument, according to the police report. A third-party witness confirmed the story, police said. The woman also had a visible red mark across her neck, according to police reports.
Dessances, who was still at the scene, was arrested and charged with second-degree strangulation, unlawful restraint, third-degree assault and a breach of the peace. His bond was set at $10,000, and is he scheduled to appear in court Monday.
