Norwalk Man, 51, Charged With Forcing His Way Into Westport Home

WESTPORT, Conn. -- A 51-year-old Norwalk man was arrested after forcing his way into a Westport home and throwing items around, police said.  

Westport police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance between a boyfriend and girlfriend at a home on Franklin Street.

Upon arrival, officers noticed items in the house had been knocked over and there was damage to the front door, police said.

During the investigation, officers determined the boyfriend had forced open the front door, which was locked, and while in the house tossed objects around, police said.

The suspect fled before officers arrived and was located at his home in Norwalk by Norwalk Police Officers, police said. A Westport officer responded to Norwalk and took custody of the suspect.

James Olivia, 51, of Norwalk was charged with third-degree criminal mischief and disorderly conduct, police said.

He was unable to post $10,000 bond and was issued a court date of May 18 at Norwalk Superior Court.
