NORWALK, Conn. — A 20-year-old Norwalk man was charged with several drug offenses after officers pulled his vehicle over because it had broken brake lights Sunday evening, police said.
After officers pulled the vehicle over near Taylor Avenue and Keith Street at 6:17 p.m., officers smelled the heavy odor of marijuana coming from Edgar Velez’s vehicle. The officers had all Velez and all of the passengers step out of the vehicle, police said.
Upon searching Velez, officers found marijuana in his pocket, police said. Officers also found that Velez had a digital scale, police said.
Velez was charged with use, possession or delivery of drug paraphernalia within 1,500 feet of a school; illegal distribution of a controlled substance near school, public housing, or day care center; illegal manufacture, distribution, sale, prescription, dispensing of a controlled substance; and use, possession or delivery of drug paraphernalia.
His bond was set at $1,000 with a court date of June 14, police said.
