Norwalk K-9 Officers Honored For Work Catching Armed Robbery Suspects

NORWALK, Conn. -- Members of the Norwalk Police Department K-9 Unit were honored for their work in tracking suspects in a 2014 armed robbery.

The Connecticut Work Dog Association awarded Sergeant Garrett Kruger, Officer David Peterson and Officer Richard Montanez the 2014 Daniel Wasson Memorial 1st Runner Up Award for outstanding K-9 achievement on June 11. The award stems from an armed robbery on July 8, 2014 on Belden Avenue, when the officers and their K-9 partners were able to quickly track and apprehend two suspects in a thickly wooded area near the Route 7 Connector.

The officers area also being honored for this incident by the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA) as a Hero K-9 Unit. FLEOA selected six units from across New England, and the Boston Red Sox will recognize them with an ceremony on July 27 at Fenway Park.
