The training consisted of removing simulated unconscious firefighters from the headquarters building. The training, made possible with grant money, "taught the latest techniques for rapid intervention should a Firefighter become injured or unconscious inside a burning building," department officials said in a press release.

"Connecticut Fire Academy Instructors were able to teach the classes within the new buildings training area, during a heavy rain storm," a press release said. "In the past with the heavy rains outside, training would have been cancelled at our outdoor training area for safety purposes."
