Norwalk Firefighter Injured, Dog Dies In House Fire

NORWALK, Conn. — A Norwalk firefighter was injured while fighting a house fire on Dock Road on Wednesday, and the family's 13-year-old Dachshund perished during the blaze that started in the home's basement, according to the Connecticut Post.

Fire Chief Larry Reilly told the Connecticut Post that the firefighter suffered a shoulder injury when he fell down the basements stairs of the split-level home. He was treated at the scene, said the Connecticut Post.

The dog was found in an upper level room of the home that received extensive damage in the basement and smoke damage on the upper floors during the fire that started around 12:35 a.m., added the Connecticut Post.
