On April 11, department staff, public safety cadets and Red Cross volunteers will go door-to-door in South Norwalk to install new smoke detectors.
”Smoke detectors are not a luxury but a vital necessity,” said Fire Chief Denis McCarthy.
In addition to smoke detectors, teams also will perform safety checks and provide fire prevention and safety information.
Residents or groups interested in volunteering can visit https://volunteerconnection.redcross.org/?nd=form__4174. Training will take place from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday.
The event was postponed from its original March date due to snow.
