Shawn Paprocki, 35, was charged with one count of driving under the influence, police said. He was released on $10,000 bond.

Police received a call from the staff of the Doubletree Hotel in Norwalk on Sunday night, saying Paprocki had crashed his car into a wall at the hotel. When officers arrived they found the car in the parking garage, with damage to the front of the car, police said. Paprocki was sitting in the car with the engine running, police said, and did not appear to notice the officers.

When Paprocki rolled down the window, the officer detected the odor of alcohol, according to police reports.

The officer had Paprocki perform field sobriety tests, which he failed, police said. According to police reports, Paprocki repeatedly broke into fits of laughter and kept asking the officers if they knew who he was. After failing the field sobriety tests, he was arrested.

He became uncooperative, and tried to kick the officer while being placed into the back of a police car, the police report said. Officers used a Taser on his leg to get him to stop kicking, police said.

While driving him back to the station, police said Paprocki repeatedly asked to be dropped off at Bank of America. When they reached the station, police said that Paprocki refused to take a breathalyzer test.
