New Canaan Teen's Day in Norwalk Court Postponed

NORWALK, Conn. – The case of a New Canaan teenager accused in the death of a Norwalk jogger was continued indefinitely Friday due to unforeseen circumstances – a power outage at Norwalk Superior Court.

People arriving for court waited in a long line for an unusual procedure. Clerks went through files in a box on the security desk inside the door, checking to see when the defendants would be expected back in court. A court marshal said the courthouse only had limited power and cases were being continued.

The 16-year-old girl is accused of hitting Kenneth Dorsey with her SUV as he ran up New Canaan Avenue March 24. She was driving an SUV that struck Dorsey while she was using her cell phone to surf the Internet, police said.

A clerk said her case had been continued, but did not know to when.
