NORWALK, Conn. — The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has determined the cause of death for the 49-year-old woman who was found dead in her Norwalk home early Wednesday morning.

Lisa Zemlok died of a blunt impact injury to her head during a homicide, state officials said Friday.

Zemlok's body was found at about 1:30 a.m. in her home at 505 Westport Ave. Unit 17 after officers arrived on a report of an assault, police said.

Officers detained another resident, 59-year-old Paul Bjerke, who was inside the residence when they arrived, police said. Bjerke was later charged with first-degree manslaughter for his role in the death, police said.

Many of Zemlok's friend posted messages at the Norwalk Police Department's Facebook page after her death.

"She had a wonderful smile. So sad an ending for a girl who went thru life with many problems and still smiled. RIP pretty girl," said on post.

"She was a great friend. Deserved so much more than what life gave her," said another post.

Other messages referenced her work as a hairdresser.

"Lisa, you will always be in my heart and I will miss you. You're a real friend. You always were the one that always cut my hair. The heavens has just got a real beautiful angel. RIP my friend Lisa," the post said.

Another post said, "Good friend and awesome hairdresser. I will miss her."

Bjerke shared the home, which is in a mobile home community, with Zemlok, who was his girlfriend, The Hour reported.
