DARIEN, Conn. -- Darien Police are investigating a total of 22 car burglaries that took place last week. All the cars that were entered had been left unlocked, police said.
The first rash of burglaries took place in the overnight hours from Tuesday, April 11 into Wednesday, April 12. Residents reported on break-in on McLaren Road, two on Fairview Avenue, two on Midbrook Avenue, one on Cherry Street, three on Robinson Street, three on Hamilton Lane and two on Charles Street.
Taken from the car from Cherry Street was a wallet valued at $150 and three credit cards. One of the cars on Hamilton Lane was missing $10 in coins, $20 in cash and a pair of sunglasses.
There was a break-in to a car on Fitch Avenue the night of Thursday, April 13, and then another spree of burglaries the night of Friday, April 14 into Saturday, April 15. Residents reported two break-ins on Miles Road, one on Woods End Road, one on Relihan Road, one on Stanton Road, one on Glenwood Road and one on Ridge Acres Road.
The car on Woods End Road was missing a $16 bottle of wine, a $15 shirt, a $50 gift card, a $30 gift card, an empty gift bag valued at $5 and a $10 headband. The car on Ridge Acres Road was missing a $250 pair of Ray Ban sunglasses.
