NORWALK, Conn. – A Wal-Mart security guard watched Wednesday as a man picked up iPod after iPod during a four-hour walk through the Connecticut Avenue store and left without paying, Norwalk police said. Police are investigating.
The security guard called police at 5:52 p.m. He had watched the shopper on the store's surveillance cameras, but the man had escaped with 15 iPods of varying value, Sgt. James Walsh said. The guard did not know who he was and provided images from the video footage for police to use during their investigation.

That police officer has done a great job. I think because of surveillance cameras such crime has spotted and I'm inspired to use security camera system on my shop as well. Thanks.

The first time he concealed one, they should have grabbed him. There is nothing in the law that requires them to wait until he leaves the store. Either the store was shorthanded in security people, or the guy who was watching him and failed to have him stopped needs to find another line of work.
..Every store has a policy that they must pass the last point of sale..It may not be necessary in criminal law but it is in civil law.....I don't agree with it but many a lawsuit has been won by some dirt bag saying they were going to pay for the 50 concealed items
Old Timer it could also be that the security guy was in on it (I mean, seriously, WATCHING the guy take FIFTEEN IPods???)
I'd like to see a follow up on this story...
He was able to get his hands on 15 - that's fifteen - iPods? They had that many on display? Or were the staff opening cases and handing them to him? Definitely need to work on the security.
Clearly you are ignorant when it comes to laws as far as stopping shoplifters..Maybe you should research before you post as this way you will not continue to make a fool of yourself.
He watched for 4 hours while this guy kept picking up Ipods? He didnt call police until the guys left? Something doesn't sound right...
