NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk Police issued nearly 300 tickets to drivers using cell phones during a month-long crackdown on distracted driving in April.
The Norwalk Police Department took part in the statewide distracted driving campaign, U Drive. U Text. U Pay. during the month of April. Extra patrols were dispatched throughout the city in an effort to curb the use of handheld devices while driving.
As a result of the campaign, police issued 294 infractions for cell phone use. Police also issued one infraction for a car seat violation, arrested one fugitive, issued four summonses for driving with a suspended license, arrested two people on drug violations and issued 22 other motor vehicle infractions.
