After the injured cyclist called 911 for help at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Easton police were able to determine his location via the GPS coordinates from his phone, the Courier said.
First responders from Easton Police Department, Easton Fire Department and Easton Volunteer Emergency Medical Service walked into the preserve and located the injured cyclist, the Easton Courier said.
They were able to carry the man in a basket for about 100 feet, where all-terrain vehicles from the Weston Fire Department and the Long Hill Fire Department in Trumbull were able to transport the man out the woods to a waiting ambulance, the Courier said.
The hometown and age of the cyclist, who suffered only a broken leg, were not released, the Courier said. The rescue took about two hours.
