"The Baltimore Police Department issued a warning to all police based on intelligence reports indicating that gangs were entering into partnerships to attack police," said a statement Monday from Fairfield police. "We ask that you warn [the public] to report suspicious activities to police, especially any groups that are gathering in any particular area as the public can be in danger as well."

Police ask that suspicious activities be reported to local departments.

In a statement called a "credible threat to law enforcement," the Baltimore Police Department's Criminal Intelligence Unit said it has received "credible information that members of various gangs, including the Black Guerilla Family, Bloods, and Crips, have entered into a partnership to “take-out” law enforcement officers.

"This is a credible threat. Law enforcement agencies should take appropriate precautions to ensure the safety of their officers."

The statement also asked the media to distribute this information to the public and law enforcement nationwide.

Protests have occurred in the last several days in Baltimore after the death of Freddie Gray, a 25-year-old black man who suffered severe injuries and died last week after being taken into police custody.

Baltimore called in the National Guard and set a curfew as rioting and looting continued late Monday to protest Gray's death, characterized by many as the latest fatality due to police brutality.
