NORWALK, Conn. – Firefighters knocked down a small fire at a Norwalk Laundromat on Sunday night, Deputy Chief Edward Prescott said in a press release.
Norwalk Fire Department crews were called to the Main Street Laundromat on reports of heavy smoke coming from the business’s front doors at about 10 p.m. Sunday. A fire had spread from a commercial dryer to nearby wood framing and ceiling joists, Prescott said.
Firefighters were able to put out the fire and clear the scene within about 45 minutes, he said. No injuries were reported in the incident, and the business was able to reopen later in the night, according to the press release.
The cause of the fire was still under investigation.
