On Feb. 27, 2010, police responded to an alarm at Al Oliver & Son Piano Co. on Taft Street. Someone had used a rock to break open the store’s glass front door, causing an estimated $365 in damage, according to police reports. The only item reported missing from the store was a 30GB iPod, police said.
A pair of black gloves was found in the iPod’s last known location, police said. The gloves were sent to the Connecticut State Forensics Laboratory for analysis at the time, police said. In late 2013, the laboratory matched DNA found in the gloves to Wilburt Reddick, police said.
Reddick, 51, has been in prison since October on a robbery conviction, according to state judicial records. He was also convicted of a burglary in Norwalk that occurred in March 2010, according to court reports.
Reddick was taken to Norwalk Superior Court on Thursday and served a warrant for third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief and sixth-degree larceny.
The arrest marks the second offense from 2010 resolved within the past week for the Norwalk Police, both relating to DNA evidence returned from the state crime lab last fall. Another burglary suspect was arrested Wednesday based on evidence retrieved from a beer can by the laboratory.
