NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk police are investigating a distraction burglary committed against an elderly woman at her Ward Street home by two men claiming to be employees of the power company.
The woman was contacted by one of the suspects, who said he needed to check the electric and power service inside her home on Wednesday, police said.
The suspect and victim then went into the basement while the other male suspect stole items from the main part of the house, police said.
One of the suspects was described as a white male, 5 feet, 7 inches tall, with a dark beard, and wearing a dark brown jacket and dark pants, police said.
Police are reminding residents not to let anyone they don’t know, or who does not have a previously scheduled appointment, into their homes; always ask workers for identification; and do not hesitate to call their employers to verify the identification.
Residents can also contact the police department if they have any concerns.
