DARIEN, Conn. – Undercover Darien officers arrested three people in a sting operation in Norwalk Saturday. The three set up a drug deal and then ran off with the cash, according to police reports.

Joshua Hurley, 18, of Norwalk was charged with second-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit second-degree larceny and interfering with an officer.
A 16-year-old juvenile offender from Stamford was charged with possession of marijuana, second-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit second-degree larceny and interfering with an officer.
An undercover officer made arrangements Friday afternoon to buy crack at the Darien/Stamford border from someone named “John.” The officer contacted John based on information from a confidential informant, according to police reports.
The officer bought four individually packaged baggies that were supposed to contain crack but turned out to contain some other white powdery substance.
The officer texted John, who promised to make good on the transaction, according to police reports. They arranged to meet Saturday afternoon in the Best Buy parking lot on Connecticut Avenue in Norwalk. When the officer arrived, a trio approached his car and got in. The officer produced $80 in cash for the crack, and Orellano grabbed the money and all three ran off, police said.
They were chased down by cover officers who had come to assist in the operation, according to police. The juvenile had a small amount of marijuana on him, police said. Orellano told police he did not intend to sell crack to the officer, according to police reports. He said he usually set up drug deals so he could steal from narcotics abusers, according to police.
Orellano posted a $5,000 bond and will appear in court on Jan. 22. Hurley was held in lieu of a $5,000 bond and appeared in court Monday. The youthful offender was turned over to his mother and will appear in juvenile court Tuesday.
