The accident occurred just before midnight Friday outside Norwalk Fire Headquarters, according to fire officials.
The SUV hit a compact car head-on, causing the SUV to roll over onto its roof. The impact knocked the left front wheel and strut assembly off the SUV.
Firefighters helped the driver of the SUV get out of her car, and she was taken to Norwalk Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the compact car fled the scene before firefighters arrived, fire officials said. A description of the driver who fled was relayed to police, who searched the area south of the firehouse.
Connecticut Avenue was closed for about an hour while police investigated the cause of the accident.
