The theft was reported Monday morning by the site manager overseeing work at the playing fields in the back of the school, police said.

The manager approached the school resource officer and reported that he had come to work and found someone had cut the outer gate to the work site. The lock to the site's storage locker also was cut, police said.

Taken from the storage locker were several pieces of construction equipment, including a jumping jack rammer, a plate tamper and a demo saw, worth a total of about $23,000.
