KENT, Conn. — A suspect was in custody late Friday after a fatal shooting at a home in Kent, according to Connecticut State Police.

State police were investigating an incident that occurred "at approximately 6 p.m. at a residence on Kent Cornwall Road in the town of Kent, where one individual sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound," State Police spokesman Sgt. Eric Haglund said.

One person sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to a hospital, Haglund said. At about 9:15 p.m., Haglund reported that the victim had died of the injuries.

At that time, Haglund also reported that a suspect was in state police custody and that there was no danger to the public.

No information was released about the victim or the suspect.

State Troopers from Troop L are investigating the incident along with detectives from Major Crime, who also responded to the scene to assist with this investigation.
