The Norwalk Fire Department responded to the car fire at 9:42 p.m. and found a 2014 Grand Cherokee fully engulfed in flames upon their arrival. Fire officials said the woman driving the car noticed an odor and then saw flames in her rearview mirror. She was able to pull to the shoulder and exit the car.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames. State troopers kept the ramp closed for a short time while Inspector Luca Feola from the Fire Marshal's office investigated the cause of the fire.
