The truck landed on its side after mounting the curb, striking a tree and then ripping an electrical transformer from its platform, police said. The trucks diesel tank leaked 25 gallons of fuel while the electrical transformer leaked cooling fluid.
The truck’s driver sustained minor injuries and was out of the vehicle when firefighters arrived.
Eversourse linemen, along with workers from South Norwalk Electric, responded to repair the transformer and exposed wires, while the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection was called in to contain the fuel spill.
Norwalk Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
