Kirsty Roberts, 36, of Stratford was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence, two counts of risk of injury to a minor, failure to carry an insurance ID card and unsafe backing. Bond was set at $1,000, and she will appear in court June 30.

Officers responded to the accident at Spring Hill Avenue and Riverside Avenue at 7 p.m. Monday. According to police reports, Roberts' car rolled backward and struck another car. Roberts told officers that her car had run out of gas and rolled back, police said.

When Roberts got out of the car, she smelled of alcohol and needed to lean on her car for support, according to police reports. Multiple bottles of alcohol were in the car, police said.

Two children who Roberts was babysitting, ages 12 and 5, were also in the car at the time of the accident, police said. Nobody was injured in the accident.

Roberts failed a field sobriety test and was taken into custody. Two breathalyzer tests taken at police headquarters indicated her BAC was over 0.2, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08, according to police reports.
