Arrest Made In Attack On Elderly Man In Norwalk

NORWALK, Conn. – A 22-year-old Norwalk man was arrested Monday and charged with attacking an elderly man on Burnell Boulevard, police said. 

Deon Whitehead, of North Taylor Avenue, allegedly walked up to the man, tapped him on the shoulder, said something about the man owing him money and punched him in the head, police said. The incident occurred near the Wheels bus stop just before 2 p.m.

Police said Whitehead fled and was picked up a short while later in front of the nearby McDonald’s on Belden Avenue.

Whitehead was charged with third-degree assault and held in lieu of a $1,000 bond. He was scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court Tuesday.
