NORWALK, Conn. — Norwalk police had two people in custody on Lawrence Street after a report of shots fired in South Norwalk early Wednesday evening.
The two people were held shortly after 7 p.m. as Norwalk police set up a crime scene covering a large part of Woodward Avenue and Sheridan Street. Lawrence Street was blocked shortly thereafter. About 15 police cruisers were on the scene. A witness reported hearing about 10 gunshots and thought the suspects might still be in the area. The police arrived quickly, the witness said.
There did not appear to be any victims of the shooting.
A group of five young men was walking down the middle of the street when three went one way and two went the other, a witness said. Then shots rang out, the witness said. "It's crazy." The witness heard one say he was "scared" while he was talking on a cellphone after the incident.
A passerby said, "These kids are out of their minds. Did you hear what she said? They wanted to kill each other."
Officers were looking in crawlspaces under porches of homes on Lawrence Street and searched an unlocked car.
A witness said at least two cars had been struck by bullets.
Police on the scene refused to confirm and details of the incident Wednesday night. Cruisers remained in the area as of 10 p.m.
Check back with the Norwalk Daily Voice for more details.

Not true. Please stop lying about the Norwalk PD.
No it's true you can post what ever you like but it doesn't change the facts..
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I did an internet search on stabbings in Norwalk,
Very good the problem with this its very hard to be right when most of the crime at least 75,000 calls a year in Norwalk go MIA in the media.
Your mindset is great your information is great but lacks the entire picture,
Your stabbed on the platform of the train station Norwalks reports don't show that stabbing.Yiou get shot under a bridge its MTAs job.
we have been down this road many times with those who think the city needs a friend.
Low numbers of crimes or the way they are classified is usually the way NPD does business, its bad for tourism if its high.
Why not report all crimes in Norwalk who would it serve?Hartford just got 1.5 million dollars to hire new officers in fact they can only hire Vets for the position of police officer thru a federal grant how sweet and patriotic is that? How did they get a fed grant the amount of crime rising in the city, sounds like another city you know?
Norwalk residents find a need to defend Norwalks leadership yet know very little how the system works and who is not getting the police protection they need.
Odd how all of those owners of nice houses at the end of woodward ave now on a daily basis realize there is no way out when the street are all blocked for police investigations.Support Moccia and get what you deserve.
Sad to think when the new traffic pattern is in full swing on water street ,when it floods there is only going to be one way going out to village creek, right thru the war zone perfect justice for those who think our police and mayor are doing a great job.
Bullet proof glass is now needed a familiy was shot at last week imgaine how fast cars will travel now thru the DMZ zone now.
Do some research and then ask your reporters they too go on vacation and yes they are at times stone walled into not getting the info for police reports,It was nice yo did all that work some of us go back years the old Norwalk blog still has some useful information when you still google crime,a shame jACKIE didn't embrace what people wanted to see,it was the crime rate go down back then.It was a great source for Norwalk shame it lost its edge it simply lost its ability to be non partisn.
Thank God the Daily came to Norwalk not for this site and coverage most of those idiots who think Norwalk is safe and run well would voting again for the same lame cowards who run the city.
We are living these shootings each gunshot goes right thru you and to think maybe three out of 80 posts are from people who have seen the blood get washed down the street from those crimes notmentioned in the list.
Have to feel sorry for those who think because of many years and family ties they know Norwalk,Norwalk streets are entirely changed from teh days whistleville existed.
No one seems to care about the kids who are seeing these shootings I can imagine how the school year starts at Rowyaton by asking not how your summer went but how many people did you see get shot or stabbed and how many times did the police use crime scene take on your fence,
sickening? yes just like some of the posts, there are those who need to tone it down, outrage should be shown in other ways call your real estate agents and ask hiw they can sell houses in Norwalk with crime chaos like this.
Outstanding job by Norwalk police you can see it their faces this has to be stopped its not easy to see terrified kids and parents along with elderly as you drive the streets looking for shooters those who post should take a step back unless your here where gunfire is heard like bells on a church.
To those who are not part of this try and imagine this happening outside your kitchen window
SoNo, I understand what you are saying. Yes, there are a lot of 9-1-1 calls, but they aren't all crimes. Some are car accidents, others are medical assists and still others are phantom events. In today's world, people have called 9-1-1 because their French fries weren't hot. And before anyone thinks "Oh, what a great idea", the caller can now be arrested for 9-1-1 abuse. The police answer them all. And not every call or arrest is published in the paper.
People do care about the children who witness these acts of violence, whether it be shootings, stabbings or other types of mayhem. The schools do have social workers and counselors available and the teachers do watch for warning signs.
One project that is on the way to help reduce this situation is a Federal program called Choice Neighborhoods. It looks like Washington Village will be demoed, and new residential units constructed that will be 1/3 market rate, 1/3 affordable living rate and 1/3 Section 8. The goal of the program is to break up the concentration of Federal Housing projects and move the residents to different locations through out the City. I don't know how well it will work, but it seems like it is better than what we've got now.
"And not every call or arrest is published in the paper"
I agree as many are covered up..I understand this has been the process for years. thanks for pointing that out.
Tim - Get a grip. Walk into the Police Station. Just to the right of the main desk is a large three ring binder. That is the arrest log.
Oh, yeah, and you may want to be very, very, very polite to whoever is there.
arrest log
Now that must be a very empty log when it comes to arrests for shootings, killings and stabbings..Thanks for pointing that out..Now reply as you are clearly obsessed with my post as they say the dirty truth about Norwalk...
You are 100 percent correct
I GUESS I WAS CORRECT ALL ALONG AS USUAL
No arrests were made in connection to the incident, in which two cars were hit during the shooting'. When I had originally read the the NPD had made AN arrest in the incident I knew it was to good to be true. Well at least the NPD still has the perfect record of ZERO VIOLENT CRIMES SOLVED,
THE NPD IS STILL A COMPLETE AND TOTAL FAILURE
Two people were arrested during the investigation for trespassing on Lawrence Street. Police received a complaint from a resident who said there were two men in her yard she did not know. Police said officers questioned them, and one, a 24-year-old Bridgeport man said that was visiting a friend there. Police said he kept changing his story and had no business being there.
The man and his companion, a 17-year-old youthful offender from Norwalk, were both arrested and charged with simple trespassing, an infraction
Nice try Timmy, but I am willing to give the Police more than 24 hours to get to the bottom of this. And as usual, you are wrong about "zero violent crimes solved", as Paige proved with the many links she provided:

All but one was solved by an outside agency. The one that was solved by the NPD was thrown out of court as in NO CONVICTION..The NPD is has its perfect recored of ZERO UNSOLVED VIOLENT CRIMES...How does the stoooge feel now..
There shots fired in the roughest part of town, and the Norwalk PD already have two people in custody. Tim T just can't stand the idea that the Norwalk PD look good here! LOL.
Hey Timmy... NICE TRY AT SPIN BUT YOU FAILED. LOL.
Two of the wrong people as the NPD was later forced to admit that they stooped the wrong person .. This will be yet anther lawsuit filed against the NPD...Nice try at spin but you failed ..How does the stooge feel now?

NOW DOES THE PAID STOOOGE FEEL LIKE A FOOL YET AGAIN

The fact that yet again you are forced to resort to lies, name-calling, and insults shows tremendous weakness on your part.
Hey sppon,..help me out here, please. If I have 100's of fluke, 100`s of bass and 100's of flounder,...don't I have 100's of flounder? I ask because somebody said there was 100's of stabbing, shootings and killings, then went on to say( that didn't mean, I think ) he never said 100's of killings.
Thank you in advance.
Broad River,
I checked a grammar and arithmetic textbook and you are correct, but as we have seen our favorite one-string banjo does not follow the laws of grammar, arithmetic, or common sense.
Did you chose fluke, bass, and flounder in your example because of Timmy's propensity towards telling fish stories?
Thank you so very much for checking.
I chose ' Fluke ' (b)ass and ' Flounder " because these are some of the descriptive words that come to mind sometimes while a read crAzy stuff from ' the sky is falling ' people
Originally I was going to use apples oranges and pears. I just didn't want citrus to skew the variables.
The Jesuits cured most of my grammar errors, early on as it wasn't my forte` either. :-)
LOL at one-string banjo, good one.
'one-string banjo' was Broad River's brilliant nickname for Timmy, I wish I could take credit.
share all the royalities ,..no problem lol :-)
Well he does fret a lot and he is high strung.
The problem with the Norwalk Police was and continues to be a lack of leadership much like the rest of Norwalk government
Lack of leadership? there's an opening for timmy then ! I think what you meant to say was a lack of effective leadership, although I have to disagree but you may be right.. I don't see that much action up this end of town. thank heavens.
Wow Timmy, you must feel outnumbered if you're posting as Mr Nelson again. I guess it wasn't enough to post 25 comments as Tim T, you needed to post a few more as Mr Nelson? LOL.
thats more your style as you post as broad river and rebc..
you didn't think we knew did you stooge. HOW much did the mayor pay you for todays posts/
just a few days back he said an empty barrel makes the most noise. one string banjo wants his cake and eat it too.
HEY BROAD RIVER
can you tell me what the stooge spooner had for lunch yesterday as you have your nose so far up his rear you must know,,,
Actually, Broad, I was the one that orignally made that comment in response to his trollling and then he creatively copied and pasted it back as a response to another comment I made.
He's a master of C&P. It's an ingenius (root word genius? I knew he got it from somewhere else) expression as well !
A blue Honda CRV parked in front of Christ Temple Church was struck by the gunfire while the vehicle's owner was inside the church.
WOW Not even safe going to church in Norwalk these days.
You don't know if the vehicle was parked there for prayer meeting or just parked there because the space was available, Tim. Also, you must have missed the story back at the beginning of the year when a fight broke out in the parking lot of a church following a funeral in the same part of town.
@ Paige ( great name by the way) Bullets have an impact zone much farther than a few feet of course and the shooter was real close to the area of the church. I bet if I called, there were no services at that church last night. timmy works on assumptions. Becareful where you park you'll be accused of going to college or something . :-)
You have to wonder all these years Mayor Moccia has gone to schools and entertained children in the classrooms as tho he cared.Leaving these classrooms like Rowyaton for years art hung on boards outside the classrooms showing victims laying on the ground pleas to stop the shooting the voilence I know after 7 years of kids in Rowyaton the kids from RC Meadow gardens etc for the most part went to Rowyaton, did the Mayor ever see any of the pleas to make Norwalk safe?
Cowards Morris Himes Duff Duff twice and Perone all are useless Carvin the new bad boy on the block should quit he is Pathetic.
Duf has always said what can I do,leave office Bob you have never at least made any comments on the children the victims anything that would show compassion its below the standard you set for office.Your range of voters show you are out of touch but While your with the old people Bob Duff talking money and helping the elderly have you thought some of yourr supporters are in South Norwalk?
Morris stand at the polling place and greets his voters and is a ghost until the next election.
Himes gets a grant someone tell Jim the money is gone these shootings happen all the time.
To joke about stats how many killed etc and doubt numbers 1 shooting leaving kids in fear mothers clinging to kids in fear is such a heart wrenching picture.
But who cares where is Ramano where is Carvin where is the Mayor, takes time to pitch his transfer station yet no time to talk about todays shooting.
Where is Dave thought he cared, those Rowyaton voters are thinning this voilence will not go away it will drive investors out just look at the empty store fronts Its sad.
Enough with the antics lets talk about what we see thats news and yes the Daily has given us a voice lets not trash that perk
I don't buy Bob Duffs lax way he should be ashamed.
Norwalk is out if control
SHOOTING AFTER SHOOTING
STABBING AFTER STABBING
AND KILLING AFTER KILLING
Only a moron or the criminals themselves would disagree.
then tell NPD department then
http://www.city-data.com/crime/crime-Norwalk-Connecticut.html
Norwalk crime
@ wavy,... bogus stats. perhaps timmy is right. that would explain the unsolved crime. wouldn't want to solve a muder when they under reported on the stats. i wonder where they hide the bodies. :-)
2010 was the last year listed... My reference was to the last 4 years..We are now in 2012.. Also crime stats are worthless as the numbers are what the local department reports..So if the local department is not accurate or honest you can use them as toilet paper.....Nice try....
As I an typing just heard on the police scanner 1037 pm 8-8 another stabbing,,,Did not get the address...
LIKE I SAID OUT OF CONTROL....
In 2 days
Stabbing on.... Tue
Wild West shoot out ....Wed
Stabbing..... Wed
The funny thing is some morons and stooges still think all is just fine and that the NPD are not failures...FUNNY
Not that Tim, who claims to have a degree in criminal justice, cares one way or another, but the rest of the world is probably aware that when a call comes into the dispatch center, the dispatcher tries to ascertain exactly what is going on by questioning the caller. Meanwhile, a patrol car or officer is sent to the address. Until the officer actually arrives, no one knows for sure what is going on. So a call to 9-1-1 dispatch where the caller claimed there was a stabbing would probably go out over the radio stating something similar.
Classic examples of this are the recent upswing in calls referred to as "swatting" claiming a domestic shooting has taken place that results in a SWAT team being dispatched to either an empty house, or to the home where the couple involved are calmly eating dinner or watching a movie.
It's beginning to sound like Tim has a serious case of Norwalk Police Department Derangement Syndrome, a sad, and usually untreatable condition that involves foaming at the mouth, along with ranting and ravings that are totally unconnected to reality.
A degree,.. from the back of a match book cover?
TROLL ALERT

Okay, I did an internet search on stabbings in Norwalk and had to eliminate numerous stories in reference to Norwalk, Ohio and Norwalk, California.
Here's what turned up in the first 10 pages of search finds:

I'm not downplaying this, but there's 8 stories and 9 incidents over the 4 year period. This is only what has been reported in the newspapers, it's not taken from the police logs.
I haven't got the time to do a search on shootings today.
yep...NOT a stabbing..were you going to correct that one tim?
No need to correct it as it was a stabbing as per the scanner..Do you have some inside information? I thought not ....
