Letter: Norwalk YMCA Thanks Volunteers For Work At Community Event

NORWALK, Conn. -- The Norwalk Daily Voice accepts signed letters to the editor. Please send letters to norwalk@dailyvoice.com.

To the editor:

On Saturday, March 7th at Side by Side Charter School the Norwalk YMCA held its first Norwalk Community Celebration - a free community event to inspire more kids and families to keep their minds and bodies active.

We were so pleased with the turn out and watching so many families enjoy the day together. The event featured arts and crafts activities, Zumba, face painting, music, games, health & wellness screenings and services, informational displays from local merchants, demonstrations, and so much more!

This could not be accomplished without the generosity of our community and the willingness of numerous friends and volunteers who gave up part of their Saturday to assist us in this event.

A special thanks is made to the following Norwalk organizations and businesses: Shop Right, Norwalk Health Department, Americares, Norwalk Community Health Center, Norwalk Public Library, Norwalk Hospital, Zumba instructors (Lisa Lux and Rita Morgano), My Three Sons, Pump It Up, Person-to-Person, Mid-Fairfield Aids Project and the Head Start-School Readiness Project for providing the fun and educational activities to the event.

We also thank the Norwalk YMCA Board of Directors who with donations made the event possible. When you see these folks around town, please acknowledge them: Carl Cooke, David Roger, Andrew LaSala, Jr., Jody Neaderland and Tim Rorick.

We also thank Stew Leonard’s for their generosity. A big thanks to Lisa Roger who distributed nearly 5,000 fliers to the Norwalk community, recruited volunteers and assisted the Norwalk YMCA in coordinating the event. Her enthusiasm for this event and her passion for the Norwalk community overwhelms us.

On behalf of the staff of the Norwalk YMCA we thank the entire Norwalk community for their continued support.
