Letter: Norwalk Education Foundation Thanks Donors For Turnout

NORWALK, Conn. -- The Norwalk Daily Voice accepts signed letters to the editor. Send letters to norwalk@dailyvoice.com.

To The Editor:

On behalf of the Norwalk Education Foundation, we would like to thank the community for supporting our Taste for Education event on Nov. 7.

With more than 150 attendees, 15 food and drink providers and close to 70 donated silent auction items, it was a partnership in every sense of the word -- a partnership that brought in close to $15,000.

We are so grateful for the generosity of our sponsors: Aitoro, for sponsoring our event and helping us make the night a success; our title sponsor, FactSet, for believing in the cause of excellent urban education; The Daily Voice, for incredible advertising visibility; Pepperidge Farm, for demonstrating its ongoing support by sponsoring both this event and our Spelling Bee last spring; Webster Bank, for not only sponsored the event but also to our board member, Kelley Hefferan, who solicited the most donations; and Terex, for coming on as a new sponsor, for which we are most grateful.

Our restaurant and beverage providers included: Bar Sugo, BJ Ryans, Bella Pasta, Cafe Madrid, Drinks Unlimited, Forever Sweet Bakery, Fountainhead Wines, Mama’s Boy, Ninety 9 Bottles, Norwalk Grows, Saffron, Norwalk High School/Nathan Hale Middle School Culinary Departments, Solude Coffee and Robeks. We encourage you to support these establishments by patronizing them regularly.

The Norwalk Education Foundation’s mission is to support excellence and innovation in Norwalk Public Schools. Funds raised go toward projects that support Teacher Effectiveness, Parent Outreach and Student Achievement. Events like this are a fine example of what we can do when the entire community supports public education.
