NORWALK, Conn. – This letter to the editor is from Democratic mayoral candidate Andy Garfunkel, who currently serves as Norwalk town clerk.
This election cycle will provide voters with one of the most important choices we face today as citizens of Norwalk. I have served this city for 10 years as your town clerk, and now I am running to be your next mayor. But this is not why I write to you today. On Nov. 8 you have three candidates to choose from to be your next town clerk.
David Jaeger is a current member of Norwalk's Common Council and a bank officer in his professional life. He has not only provided Norwalk with great representation on our council, but has been a very loyal friend to me. Together we have hit the streets, knocking on doors and meeting voters. In addition, almost every night, David has continued to introduce himself to you with other candidates as well. David has been in constant contact with the voters of our city and will continue to be heavily involved as your next town clerk.
I have had the privilege of working with David and I believe that Norwalk citizens who are raising families here, who are extremely dedicated to our city, will recognize, along with me, that David is devoted to our city. He has grown up in Norwalk and will soon be raising a family here, as he and his wife are expecting their first child in November. I can tell you first-hand that David is concise and considerate, and his work ethic is unparalleled.
On Nov. 8 you have a choice as to who your next leaders in Norwalk will be. When it comes to choosing your next town clerk, I hope you will consider David Jaeger.

It seems to me the only reason that you have a "platform" is because Andy Garfunkel is trying to groom you for the position. All you are doing is stating things that Andy has said he already had in the works. Please try to think for yourself and come up with your own ideas.
David is a great candidate, he is ready to take a hold of this position because he has done a great job representing a diverse district...it is good that he is a banker because he will know (a bit better than most) how to deal with a confusing budget...Jaeger is what we need in norwalk he will be a fantastic leader for our city...
Thanks for the kind comments! I will not let Norwalk down!
It's nice to see friendship is alive and well in Norwalk politics--- Andy supports his friend Dave Jaeger and Steve is out there helping his old friend Rick (friends from East Norwalk tell me that they are very close friends as well and that Rick was an usher in Steve's wedding).
I like Andy and Steve, but, no offense boys, but I think I'll be making my choice for town clerk on my own research.
Jaeger's "ideas" like letting lawyers run tabs in the town clerk's office don't seem like they'd help taxpayers and his thought about 2-day elections will only cost us money. Well intentioned, but a little naive & expensive, if you ask me.
On the other hand, I like Rick's track record- he seems to have the best interests of the whole city at heart. Any guy who can serve on the Common Council for 16 years and not make enemies has got to be doing something right.
Cowgirl: I appreciate the time you took to educate yourself on the issues at hand. Although to my knowledge I am the only of the three candidates to come out with a specific platform and I certainly am not in favor of creating a "tab" for anyone, don't recall mentioning that. If you are willing to discuss further I can be reached at 203-810-4451 or Jaeger4Norwalk@gmail.com.
Dude, seriously-- an article appeared less than 2 weeks ago in the Patch and used the exact term you claim you never mentioned.
Before you responded, didn't you think to Google "jaeger tab town clerk"?
Here is the reference to your wanting to create a "tab" in the Town Clerk's office you must of forgotten from the NORWALK PATCH OF 10/6/2001: "Jaeger would also like to allow customers to set up a "tab" at the clerk's office the same way they might have a tab at a bar—regular customers who make a number of transactions with the office could pay once for some number of transactions, saving them time and effort."
You know, before I read your comment, I was going to log in here to make a few "bromance" jokes, and didn't think I was going to have go all Woodward & Bernstein on you, but seriously, I am very disappointed.
I am voting for Andy..However I don't think I can bring myself to vote for a bank officer...After how the banks have destroyed this counrty a bank officer would not get my vote for dog catcher.
