NORWALK, Conn. — The Norwalk Daily Voice accepts signed, original letters to the editor. Letters may be emailed to norwalk@dailyvoice.com.
To the Editor,
Joanne Romano, a lifelong resident of Norwalk and Westport, is committed to common sense ideas and being a strong advocate with an independent voice for the people of Norwalk.
For this reason, I am pleased to announce the Independent Party of Connecticut's endorsement of Joanne's candidacy for the 137th State House District.
Joanne not only shares the Independent Party's goals of open, honest problem solving in government, she is also a proven leader. She is dedicated to reforming business regulation and the tax system in order to encourage recovery and growth in Norwalk and across the state.
A three-term Common Council member, Joanne understands that unbalanced and partisan politics is crippling Connecticut.
Please vote for Joanne on the Independent Party line on Nov. 6 and support Common Sense for Connecticut and an Independent Voice.
— Republican Joanne Romano is running against Democratic incumbent state Rep. Chris Perrone in the 137th House District race.

@Barnstorm, I think you might be confusing reasonable regulation to protect workers or the consumer with the regulations that CT passes. The state has added such great rules as the mandatory sick leave rule for businesses with few workers, zone pricing, and other jim dandies. I shot my business down and fortunately got a regular job just because of the sick leave law.
I'm a registered Independent here in Norwalk and I guess that makes me truly independent because I don't endorse the Connecticut State Independent's endorsement.
I have no personal beef with Romano, but her campaign literature says that regulation is killing small businesses and we must get rid of government regulation.
Sorry Joanne. Regulation is there because business has proven time and time again that left to their own devices they will lead our economy into the kind of train wreck we are still trying to recover from. Our current economic woes are directly attributable to the very DE-regulation enacted during the last 30+ years.
Now these same businesses are making record profits and blackmailing our country by saying they won't help with the recovery and start hiring people unless we remove those regulations.
And Joanne seems to support them.
And that is why I am unable to support Joanne Romano.
I think maybe you are confused. Joanne is pretty independent. She has a great outlook on life and knows everyone.
An example of someone who isn't that way is someone like that guy who ran for mayor...the guy who couldn't even get a third of the vote...the really dumb one....with the pony tail
What I have seen of Joanne is that she like all the Republicans in Norwalk that are afraid to step on their leader(Moccia) toes..She seems to me to be all talk and no action. A perfect example would be her speeches about crime and when challenged to push Moccia to do something about it all we got was more speeches. Also you say "that guy who ran for mayor...the guy who couldn't even get a third of the vote...the really dumb one....with the pony tail". I would say you were referring to Moccia when you say" the really dumb one" but he doesn't have a ponytail and he won.
'Independent' Romano Is A Problem Solver
Now thats comical as it is the furtherest thing from the truth.
