William Nicholas George, 88, Of Norwalk, WWII Navy Vet And Worked At SNET

NORWALK, Conn. - William “Bud” Nicholas George, of Norwalk died Thursday, April 4. He was 88.

George was born in Torrington, son of Anthony and Elsie (Ferry) George. A Navy veteran of WWII, he served aboard the USS South Dakota. He was employed by SNET for 37 years and was a Norwalk Hospital Volunteer for 20 years.

George is survived by three daughters, Sharon Simon, Wendy Snow and Toni Fenton (Phillip), all of Danbury; daughter-in-law, Christina George; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Norma (Haven) George; son, Billy George and grandson Brian Simon.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 8 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church 174 Whisconier Road, Brookfield. Burial with military honors will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Norwalk.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Brian Simon Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Danbury High School 43 Clapboard Ridge Road, Danbury, CT 06811, or to VITAS , 99 Hawley Ln, Ste 1204, Stratford, CT 06614.
