William H. Honan, 83, Former N.Y. Times Journalist, Dies In Norwalk

REDDING, Conn. – William H. Honan, a journalist for the New York Times, died on Monday, April 28, in Norwalk. Honan, 83, was a Redding resident, according to his obituary in the New York Times.

Honan was the editor of the Arts & Leisure section for the newspaper from 1974 to 1982, when he was named culture editor. He later worked as a cultural, higher education and national correspondent before retiring in 2000. He was also the author of several books.

Honan also worked at Newsweek, The New Yorker and The Villager during his career, according to the obituary.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Burton; daughter, Edith Honan; brother, Park; and two grandchildren, according to the Times story. No funeral information was listed.
