William Flatley, 67, Of Darien, Vice President, Forbes.com

DARIEN, Conn. - William Flatley, a 24-year resident of Darien, died Tuesday, Oct. 7. He was 67.

Flatley was born in Chicago, Ill., to William and Miriam Flatley. He graduated from Lewis University in Joliet, Ill. He spent his career in advertising sales at Newsweek and Forbes. He joined Forbes in 1989 as the West Coast manager of the magazine and after relocation to New York to become advertising director, was named vice president of Worldwide Sales in 1996. From 2001 to 2006, he served as vice president and chief advertising officer of Forbes.com.

He was a member of Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) and a board member of the Online Publishers Association (OPA). He also served on the Advisory Boards of a number of internet start-ups and philanthropic boards. He served as an elder at Noroton Presbyterian Church.

Flatley is survived by his wife, Beth; children, Kelly, Kim and Chris; sons-in law, Dan Klock and Chris Pepe; two grandchildren; sister, Suzanne Morphew (James) of Springfield, Ill.; and many brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Terrence Flatley.

Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24 at Noroton Presbyterian Church, 2011 Post Road, Darien.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Noroton Presbyterian Church.
