William Colomba Clyne, 53, Of Norwalk, Attorney With Own Private Practice

NORWALK, Conn. - William Colomba Clyne of Norwalk died Sunday, Sept. 21. He was 53.

Clyne was born and raised in Riverdale, Bronx, N.Y., he was a self-practicing attorney. He was a graduate of the Bronx High School of Science, Clark University and St. John’s University School of Law. His legal career began as a court attorney at the Supreme Court, Appellate Division: Second Judicial Department in Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1990. Thereafter, he practiced insurance defense litigation and served as staff counsel for both The Hartford and AIG insurance companies. He began his private practice in 1998. He was a baseball coach in the Norwalk Little League, a basketball coach at Our Lady of Fatima School in Wilton, and in the off season for Brien McMahon High School.

Clyne is survived by his wife, Kim Haiback Clyne; children, William, Thomas, Hugh and Cecilia; mother, Kathryn Fitzgerald Clyne of Riverdale; sisters, Kak Elzinga, of Boise, Idaho, and her husband and Mary Helen Bayerle of Waterbury, Vt., and her husband; and brother, John, also of Riverdale. He was predeceased by his father, William C. Clyne, Sr., MD.

Calling hours are Friday, Sept. 26 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave.,  Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27 at St. Jerome Church, Half Mile Road, Norwalk. Burial will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, an education fund will be established for the children. More donation information will be posted shortly.
