NORWALK, Conn. – William "Abe" D. Abraham of Norwalk died Friday, Sept. 14. He was 93.
Born Jan. 28, 1919, in Santee, S.C., he was the son of Jefferson Davis and Lillie Abraham. He was married to the late Vernell Martin. Upon moving to Norwalk, Abraham joined Mount Zion Baptist Church and later New Jerusalem Baptist Church.
He was formerly employed at the America Hat Corp., the New York City World's Fair in 1964 and Rickels Home Appliance and Garden Center. A 25-year member of the Elks, Abraham was a member of William Moore Lodge 1533, where he served as chaplain, as well as Gillison Council 75 of Connecticut.
He is survived by a son, Roy (Ollie) Abraham, of Coral Springs, Fla.; a sister, Queen E. Makell, of Alexandria, Va.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Calling hours are from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at St. James the Baptist Church in Norwalk, with an Elks service at 10:30 a.m. A funeral service will follow, with the Rev. Henry G. Floyd Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Norwalk.
