Walter Hackett, 85, Former Norwalk Pharmacist

NORWALK, Conn. – Walter Joseph Hackett of Norwalk died Oct. 23 at home. He was 85. 

Born July 29, 1927, in Bridgeport, he was the son of Joseph and Erma Mucci Hackett. He graduated from Warren Harding High School in 1945 and Fordham University College of Pharmacy in 1950. 

Hackett served in the Navy during World War II and was co-owner of Fairlawn Pharmacy with his brother, Joseph. He was a lifetime member of the Connecticut Pharmaceutical Association and the Knights of Columbus. 

Hackett was also a member of the Innis Arden Golf Club of Greenwich. An avid golfer, he also loved to play the piano and was a former Bridgeport athlete. 

He is survived by his wife, Marie; and two sons, Paul and Walter. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph. 

Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Edward Lawrence Funeral Home in Darien. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Matthew Church in Norwalk. Burial will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery in Stratford. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity.
