Ruggiero was born on Feb. 20, 1925, in Norwalk to Luigi and Marianna Ruggiero, attending Norwalk High School and serving in the Army.
He worked as a self-employed general contractor, and was an active volunteer in the Norwalk community, spending many years working with the South Norwalk Boat Club and local Little League Baseball.
He is survived by his wife Ann (Villani), daughter Jeannette Pascarelli of Wilton, son John of Winston-Salem, N.C., five grandchildren, brother Anthony (Tony) of New Canaan, sister Carol Fratina of Pembroke Pines, Fla., and seven great grandchildren.
Ruggiero was predeceased by his first wife, Theresa, grandson Joseph Carelli, 10 sisters and three brothers.
Visiting hours will be on Sunday, April 10, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home, at 92 East Ave. in Norwalk. Members of the South Norwalk Boat Club are asked to gather at the funeral home at 5 p.m., and the St. Ann’s Club will gather at 7 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 11 at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Ave. in Norwalk.
Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are welcomed for South Norwalk Boat Club.
