Veronica O’Connor Burke, 78, Of Norwalk, Registered Nurse, Norwalk Hospital

NORWALK, Conn. - Veronica O'Connor Burke, a longtime Norwalk resident, died Wednesday, Aug. 21. She was 78.

Burke was born March 10, 1935. After graduating from Norwalk High Schoolin 1953, she attended the Norwalk Hospital School of Nursing, graduating as a registered nurse. She worked for the Department of Health as a visiting nurse, then took time off to raise her children, only to return to nursing at Norwalk Hospital and subsequent positions in residential and home health care. She was a member of St Thomas the Apostle Church in East Norwalk.

Burke is survived by her sons, Patrick Burke of Norwalk; Michael Burke, (Lynn Bodetka-Burke); Edmund Burke, Jr. (Leigh Coventry Burke) of Fairfax, Va., and Daniel Burke (Tiffany Akre Burke) of Baton Rouge, La.; and six grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Edmund J. Burke, Sr.

Calling hours are Sunday, Aug. 25 from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 MOTT Ave., Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Ave., Norwalk. Interment will be private.
