Sistrunk was born June 22, 1959, in Norwalk, to Shirley Owens and Cleveland Coley. She attended Harding High School. Through her career she was employed by United States Surgical - Norwalk, Black & Decker - Shelton, and West River Health Care in Milford. She was a member of Prayer Tabernacle Church of Love where she served various ministries. Her pursuit of higher education inspired her to return to school for her certification. She married Joseph Sistrunk.
Sistrunk is survived by her daughter, Jasmine Sistrunk of Stratford; son, Jamal Sistrunk of Bridgeport; siblings, Jaron Taylor(Alvita) of Bridgeport, Stacey Mitchell (Robert) of Bridgeport, Ervin Dixon (Sandra) of Norwalk, Cleveland Coley Jr. (Sharon) of Ayden, N.C., Phyllis Coley of Greenville, N.C., Michelle and Wanda Coley of Bridgeport; sister-in-law, Virginia Taylor-Eldridge (Keith) of Bridgeport; two grandsons; many nieces, nephews; and friends. She was predeceased by her father.
A Memorial service to celebrate Sistrunk’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 7 at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit; 729 Union Ave., Bridgeport.
