NORWALK, Conn. -- Former Norwalk Police Lieutenant Tim Murphy died Friday, Jan. 29.
In late February, Murphy retired from his job at the Norwalk Police Department after 33 years of service, and days later was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer, according to a story in The Hour.
In March, the Norwalk Police PBA and Police Union organized a charity hockey game at Sono Ice House to show their solidarity in Murphy's fight against cancer, The Hour said.
Norwalk Police Chief Thomas Kulhawik and Murphy's former chief Mayor Harry Rilling, as well as two members of the community who have known Murphy since his college days, were among those who came out to the game to show their support, The Hour said.
