Thomas William Proulx, 66, Of Norwalk

NORWALK, Conn. - Thomas William Proulx of Norwalk died Tuesday, Oct. 21. He was 66.

Proulx was born June 3, 1948, in Haverhill, Mass., to Alfred (Buster) and Jeannette (Dodier) Proulx, both of Haverhill. After his marriage he lived for six years in Texas before moving to Norwalk. He attended St. Joseph Grammar School, Haverhill, Mass., and graduated from Central Catholic High School, Lawrence, Mass. He also graduated from Boston College in 1970 and received a PhD in Chemistry from Texas A&M University in 1975. The Director of the Society for Experimental Mechanics since 2001, he also worked for the former Perkin-Elmer Corporation from 1976 to 1996.

Proulx is survived by his wife, Carmen; daughter, Jennifer (Will) Tingets; a granddaughter; brother, Daney of Guilford; sisters, Michelle Conti of Haverhill, Mass., Marie Mueller of Guilford and Donna Egan of Northwood, N.H.; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents.

Calling hours are Friday, Oct. 24 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave., Norwalk. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Oct. 25 at 11:30 a.m. in St. Jerome Church, 23 Half Mile Road, Norwalk.
