NORWALK, Conn. – Thomas J. Hickey, formerly of Norwalk and Wilton, died Dec. 5 at his home in Libertyville, Ill. He was 75.
Born Sept. 3, 1937, in Norwalk, he was the son of Thomas F. and Christine Murphy Hickey. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. Hickey started his career at Connecticut Light & Power as a line helper and retired as a line supervisor after 36 years.
He enjoyed doing home improvement projects. An avid golfer, he was a member of the "Norwalk 8" at Grassy Hill Golf Club. During winter, he played golf with the “Horse Thieves” in Venus, Fla.
Hickey was a past president of the John O'Donnell chapter of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He most recently lived in Libertyville.
Hickey is survived by his wife of 52 years, Michaela DaMato Hickey; two daughters, Maureen E. Hickey, of Traverse City, Mich., and Christine M. Abrego, of Libertyville; a son, Thomas J. Hickey Jr., of Libertyville; a sister, Margaret Bernado, of Nashville, Tenn.; a brother, Edwin W. Hickey, of Norwalk; and two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Christine Lombardo.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John's Cemetery in Norwalk. Libertyville Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
