Shirley M. Barnum Vredenburgh, 77, Of Norwalk, Worked As Preschool Teacher

SEYMOUR, Ind. - Shirley M. Barnum Vredenburgh of Seymour died April 29. She was 77.

Vredenburgh was born Nov. 27, 1935, in Norwalk, daughter of Clifford and Lena Barnum. She worked with children and worked at the Norwalk Jewish Community Center as a preschool teacher and Derby Daycare for many years.

Vredenburgh is survived by her husband, George Finch Vredenburgh; children, Laurel Trani, George Vredenburgh, Sharon Lyons and Melinda Bottone (Mindy); a sister, Marie Betts; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 4 from 10 a.m. until noon at Norwalk’s Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall St. A prayer service will take place at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
