Sharon DeGirolomo, 62, Former Norwalk Hospital Nurse

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Former Fairfield resident Sharon DeGirolomo died suddenly on Jan. 8. She was 62.

Born March 8, 1950, in Bridgeport, DeGirolomo was the daughter of Bernard Beresin and Shirley Nezvesky Beresin. She graduated from Andrew Warde High School and earned a degree in nursing. She was married to Glenn DeGirolomo for 41 years.

DeGirolomo worked as a registered nurse at Norwalk Hospital for many years, prior to her recent retirement. She was a member of the the Huntington Chapel and a volunteer with the Bread of Heaven Ministries. She was most recently a resident of Shelton.

She is survived by her mother; her husband; a brother, Barry Beresin, of Milford, Conn.; three brothers-in-law, Mark DeGirolomo, of Litchfield, Conn., Robert DeGirolomo, of Bridgeport, and Jay (Debra) DeGirolomo, of Fairfield; a sister-in-law, Jayne Buturla, of Fairfield; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home in Fairfield Center, with the Rev. Doug Steeves officiating. Burial will follow at Lawncroft Cemetery. Visitation is from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
