Riccardo Messina, 94, Of Norwalk

NORWALK, Conn. – Riccardo Messina, 94, husband of the late Adele Ambrosoni Messina, died on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at Norwalk Hospital.

He was born in Conza, Italy, on March 5, 1920, son of the late Salvatore and Carmella (Filomina) Messina. He was a tailor for many years. He also served in the Italian Army during World War II and was held as a prisoner of war for five years.

Messina is survived by a sister, Gilda Li, of Aliso Viejo, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Feb. 26, from 4-6 p.m. at The Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Feb. 27, at 9:30 am at St. Mary Church, 669 West Ave., Norwalk. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery, Norwalk.
